John T. Kamp, 64, Amsterdam resident and business man since 1913 died yesterday at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital of a heart condition.
Kamp was born at Zuidhorn Croningen, Netherlands on May 5, 1885, the son of Thomas and Gertrude Kamp. He emigrated to the United States in 1911 and settled in Chicago. He moved to Manhattan in 1912 and then to Amsterdam in 1913. He worked as a blacksmith there from 1913-22. From 1922 until the present he owned and operated the International Harvester agency at Amsterdam.
He was married to Elizabeth DeRuig at Manhattan in 1915. His first wife died in April of 1931. He was married again in 1939 to Nina Beck at Missoula.
Survivors include his widow at the home, and six children, Gertrude Kamp, in the Netherlands; and Mrs. Avery (Grace) Bates, Thomas Kamp, Mrs. Jack (Elizabeth) Byrd, Fred Kamp, and John T. Kamp, all of Amsterdam. Also two step-children, Mrs. Ivan (Mary) Oyler of Manhattan, James Beck of Couer d’Alene, Idaho and fourteen grandchildren survive him.
The remains are at the Dokken, Nelsson and Kippen funeral service and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
