World War II Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Cabano, Quebec, Canada, he served as a Captain in command of a Company C, Royal 22nd Regiment, Canadian Infantry Corps. On December 14, 1943 during the attack on Casa Berardi, Italy, nearly all the other officers and half the men of Captain Triquet's company had been killed or wounded. Captain Triquet with the remaining men, broke through the enemy resistance. He then forced his way on with his small force, reduced to 17 men, into a position on the outskirts of Casa Berardi. They held out against attacks from overwhelming numbers until the remainder of the battalion relieved them, the next day. For valor in the face of the enemy, he was vested the Victoria Cross on March 6, 1944 and was the only French-Canadian to be awarded the VC. He died at age 70 in Quebec, Canada.
