This information comes from Early Settlers of New York State by Janet Wethy Foley, probably in Vol. 1 of 2. Since I have De La Mater ancestors from this area I have entered the name as he probably was a distant cousin of mine. He died at the age of 74 years so he probably left descendants. He is entered in the death records as Jacobus Delamatter and his widow Gertruy is buried with him. From other sources I learned that she may have been his second wife and that his first wife may have been Maria Muller-Mulder.
Jacobus was a son of Claude-Gloude De La Mater and Christina Leggett who were my ancestors. Jacobus was a brother of my ancestor Christina De La Mater who married Johannes Van Deusen as his first wife. I am descended from John J. Van Deusen, son of Johannes and Christina. John married Sophia (Fytje) Hallenbeck and one of their children was Maria Van Deusen who married Leonard Freeland in 1806 at the Dutch Reformed Church of Claverack, Columbia County, New York.
