Philip was born in Lynn, PA. (His father's name was also Philip).

Philip married Eva Geiger in 1813 in PA. She was the daughter of Henry Geiger (1767-1836) and Mary Hill (1771).

Eva was born 10-11-1793 in Livingston, Niagara, NY. and died 2-3-1889 in East Troy Walworth, Wisconsin.

About 1825 the family moved to Livingston Co. NY where Philip was a farmer and a blackmsith for 4 years. He then went to Genesee Co. for 4 years, then to Lockport, NY and then to Niagara Co. where he died.

Philip had a normal school education. He died at age 45 years and 10 months. Philip had been contracting for the Poor House, and because of the dishonesty of a middleman, the only thing Philip received was a pine coffin. His house was without windows, floors or doors.

His widow, a lady of refinement, was left with
the struggle of raising and supporting 11 children. When land became available in Wisconsin, about 1843, for homesteading, she moved to Waterford Township, Racine Co. Wisconsin with all her children in a covered wagon. Eva lived to be 96.

Their children:
1.Susan 1813
2.Peter 1815
3.Benjamin 1819
4.Daniel 1821
5.Elizabeth 1823
6.Mary 1825
7.Joseph 1827
8.Henry 1827
