Early Saturday evening, Miss Hartley was stricken suddenly at her home, 324 Ellsworth Street in Gary, Indiana. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Emma Hartley was 82 years old.
Miss Hartley was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Dorcas Society. For many years she was employed at the R.M. Thomas Company in Muncie. After her retirement 17 years ago, she moved to Gary, Indiana.
Surviving are two nieces, Miss Hazel Hartley of Gary, Indiana, and Marcella Hartley Ritchie (husband Harold) of Henry County, Indiana; a nephew, Loren Hartley of Anderson, Indiana; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Meeks Mortuary with Elder William Grotheer officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 3 p.m. Monday.
