Miss. Hazel M. Bates of Waltham died Tuesday March 14, 2005 at Maristhill Nursing Home. She was 84. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia Canada, a daughter of the late Wyman and Inez (Power) Bates, she worked for thirty six years for the Raytheon Corporation as a Tester until her retirement in 1981. Miss Bates was a volunteer for over fourteen years at Waltham Hospital with over 11, 000 hours of volunteer service. She was a member of the North Waltham Seniors as well as the South Side Seniors She was the sister of the late Scott Bates, Harold Bates, Gordon Bates, Neil Bates, Doug Bates, Raymond Bates, Marjorie Cook, and Vera Sparks. She is survived by two brothers, Norman F. Bates of Hanover. MD; and Donald Bates of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday March 18 at 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Burial will be in Bible Hill Cemetery, Nova Scotia Canada at a later date. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-8 p.m.
