It is with great sadness the family of Pearl Bates announce her passing on March 2, 2007 surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dora McLean of Bible Hill. Pearl was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Pearl was an avid tournament bowler in her earlier years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was quite a yard sale enthusiast. Her family will always remember her for her never ending support in many ways. She is survived by children, Sharon McCabe Furlotte (Richard), Raymond Bates Jr. "Brud" (Dawnelda), Darlene Bates Dickie (John); grandchildren, Tracy, Tammy and Joey, all of Truro, Misty, Calgary; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Hayden, Truro. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Bates Sr.; sisters, Audrey, Shirley, Joyce; brother, Mannie; son, Jimmy; grandsons, Robert and Troy. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5th from 7-9 p.m.; funeral service on Tuesday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Spring interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
