First name was Swepster vice the Swepter shown here.

Enlisted at Camp Trousdale, near Portland [Sumner Co] TN, Nov 4, 1861, in Company "H" 41st Regt TN INF. He was captured at Fort Donelson near Dover [Stewart Co] TN, Feb 16,1862. CSA lost 12,392 captured/missing; 1,127 wounded at the surrender on Feb 16,1862. Swepster died of pneumonia while a PoW at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Mar 22, 1862.

Swepster was initially buried at Green Lawn Cemetery, Indianapolis IN. He was re-interred at Confederate Mound (a mass grave)of 1616 Confederate veterans in 1933, at Crown Hill Cemetery. Those with legible markers were named on the tablets pictured. Those names are on the ten tablets pictured at Confederate Mound.

A separate monument stands at Greenlawn Cemetery (also pictured) completing the story. This monument was moved from Greenlawn Cemetery to Garfield Park.
