He worked with the railroad as a switchman most of his life and, some kind of telephone lineman, in later years.
My ORIGINAL marriage license shows Drury marrying Neomi Augusta Palmer of Wilson LA on 7-30-1886 in Jefferson Co. MS. Moved his family from LA to South MS around Centreville, Magnolia, and McComb MS to Vicksburg MS, to 3216 West Jayne Ave., Jackson MS(There is a convenient store there now) and finally to 8812 5th Street, Meridian MS.
His children were Frank Dewey Smith ( wife, Mary Lucille Anderson Smith) of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois; Naomi Eugenia Smith Maulding ( husband, William Henry Maulding) of Jackson, Mississippi; Alma Smith Wilson ( husband, Thomas Blakly, Blakely or Blakney Wilson) of House, Mississippi; Syble Smith Flowers ( husband F. Tom Flowers) of Magnolia, Mississippi.
I'm in the process of purchasing a gravestone for my G,G.Grandparents, Drury and Augusta and one for a Bea E. Edwards Smith ( wife of D.H. Smith, and at the same burial plot). I don't know what the relationship is on D.H. Smith.
Death certificate #16316 Lauderdale Co. MS says, that the informant was D.H.Smith. I'm searching for him. He could have been a Drury E. Smith, also.
