John (Botchick) Bacsick, Sr., 1000 West 11th street, died this morning at 4:40 at home following an illness of six weeks. He was born in Austria, and came to this country at an early age, settling in Harwood for 14 years, but lived in this city most of his life. He was last employed as a miner at the Jeddo Highland Coal Co., form where he retired several years ago. Mr. Bacsick was a member of St. John's G.C. church, and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Several weeks ago he was honored at a Holy Name meeting as the oldest Holy Name father.
His wife Mary, proceeded him in death November 26, 1954. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Mary Katulick, in Europe; Mrs. John Ciochon, Harleigh; John, Jr., Mrs. George Mordella, Michael, Mrs. Leonard Martin, all this city; Joseph, West Hazleton; Robert, Levittown; and Mrs. John Simuta, at home. Twenty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held from the late residence on Monday morning at 8:30. A requiem high mass will be celebrated in St. John's G.C. church at 9 o'clock and interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from Saturday at 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
