Everett E. Woodham Dies; Rites Tuesday

Newton, Nov. 6 -- Everett Eugene Woodham, 69, prominent Newton resident, died early Monday following an illness of several months.

A retired farmer, Mr. Woodham served Newton county supervisor's district 4 as supervisor two terms. He was an active member of the Methodist Church.

The remains will lie in state at the Hutson Funeral Home at Newton until the funeral hour.

Services will be conducted from the Newton Methodist church at 3 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. J.B. Holyfield, pastor, and the Rev. J.E. Wills officiating.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ester Woodham, Newton; eight daughters, Mrs. Vera Allday of Grand Prairie, Tex., Mrs. Mattie Mathis of San Antonio, Tex., Mrs. Bertha Keyes of Laurel, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Ramfield of Fort Worth, Tex., Mrs. Lucy Mae Parks of Lawrence, Mrs. Merle Arrington of Newton, Mrs. Opal Craig of Mobile and Mrs. Ollie Bulcae of Sliddell, La.; three sons, Clarence Woodham of Monroe, La., Robert Woodham of Memphis, Tenn., and A.B. Woodham with the U.S. Army; a sister, Mrs. Ada Chapman of Dallas, Tex.; a half brother, Tim Sears of Little Rock, Ark.; a half sister, Mrs. Flora Head of Monroe, La.; and 25 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
