Ernestine was born on July 3, 1922, to Ernest and Dorcas (Barton) Crawford on the family ranch in the Dudley community. She attended school in Dudley and graduated from high school in Denton Valley. She came to Abilene after graduation to attend Draughns Business College and afterward worked at Camp Barkley and Radford Wholesale Grocers. In 1945 she met and married the love of her life, Leonard Greer, after only one date and knowing one another for only 3 weeks. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage and were longtime members of Southwest Park Baptist Church. The most important things on this earth to Ernestine were her family and her home. She and Leonard raised two sons, James and Dennis, and spent many years enjoying their 10 acres south of Abilene where they planted huge gardens and raised a few calves.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, her parents, her brother, Dalt Crawford, and her grandson, Jared Greer. She is survived by her two sons, James and his wife Patti, and Dennis and his wife Brenda all of Abilene; and her five grandchildren, Josh Greer and his wife Leigh Ann of Abilene, Jonathan Greer of Abilene, Jami Greer Cardwell and her husband Chris of San Antonio, Lane Greer and his wife Hannah of Westminster, Colorado, and Wes Greer and his wife Suz of Littleton, Colorado.
