Clarence "Shorty" Lauffer, age 93, went to be with the Lord January 16, 2009 suddenly at Silver Cross Hospital.
Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Alma nee Schilling; his children, Beverly (William) Haas, Wayne (Kathy), Arlene (Walter) Switalski, Carol (Daryl) Regenold, Joyce (James) Burroughs and the late Robert Lauffer; proud grandfather of 14; and great-grandfather of 21; caring brother of Ed (June) and the late Wilbert, Eleanor (Elmer) Bormet and Lucile (Vernon) Hansen; brother-in-law of Lucille Rahm and June Nagel; nephew of Marie Schuldt; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; a dear friend to many.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth nee Schuldt; his father and mother-in-law Otto and Marie nee Braun Schilling; brother-in-law Scherril Rahm.
Funeral Wednesday, January 21, 2009 lying in state at St. John's United Church of Christ 11100 Second St. Mokena, IL 60448 from 10:00 AM until time of service 11:00 AM. Interment in St. John's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. John's UCC. After retiring from farming for 31 years, Shorty went to work at Lincoln Way High. Was a great sports fan, attending as many events as he could. He was a White Sox fan for 75 years. He volunteered at Silver Cross Hospital for many years. Shorty was an active member of St. John's UCC in Mokena, IL.
