Charlotte, daughter of John Albert Baxter and Harriet Jane Laforge, was born January 30, 1847, at Sullivan, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. She died April 15, 1904 at Colfax, Dunn County, Wisconsin, aged 57 years, 2 months and 15 days, and was buried there in Hill Grove Cemetery.

On January 8, 1865, Charlotte was united in marriage to Dwight Daniel Pooler in a ceremony performed by E. I. Messinger, J.P., at Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, and witnessed by Joseph Wheeler and John A. Baxter. Dwight, son of Silas Pooler and Almira Noteman, was born June 18, 1842, in Mentor, Lake County, Ohio. He died April 10, 1909, at Colfax, Dunn County, Wisconsin, aged 66 years, 9 months and 22 days. His remains were probably buried there beside those of his wife in Hill Grove Cemetery. Their known children, all born in Wisconsin, were:

Harriet born 1867
George F. 7 Jun 1870
Adabell 10 Apr 1872
Minnie May 23 Apr 1877
Walter D. 28 Dec 1880
Otis D. 8 May 1887

Charlotte moved with her parents from Rome, Jefferson Co. to Juneau County, and later to Dunn County, where she was married and resided in that locality ever since. Of their seven children only five survived her death: George, Walter, Ottis, Mrs. Ada Heyerdahl and Mrs. Minnie Leach, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Gone To Their Rest

Again are we called upon to chronicle the departure from this life of one of our esteemed neighbors Mrs. D. Pooler, which occurred at her late home in the village on Friday last, at 10 o'clock P.M., from heart failure.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Charlotte Baxter, was born at Rome, Jefferson Co., Wis. Jan. 30, 1847, and later together with her parents, moved to Juneau County, and later to Dunn County, where she was married to Dwight Pooler, Jan. 8th, 1865, and has resided in this locality ever since.

Seven children were born to them, only five of whom survive, as follows: George, Walter, Ottis, Mrs. Ada Heyerdahl and Mrs. Minnie Leach, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Mrs. Pooler will be remembered by her family as a kind, loving wife and mother, and by her neighbors and friends as a kindly, christian character, ministering to the needy, as opportunity offered.

The funeral took place on Monday at the M.E. church in the village, the local Pastor Rev. Thomas W. Stamp officiating, and the remains laid to rest in Hill Grove Cemetery, awaiting the call of her Creator.
To the sorrowing relatives we would say: [Published Friday, April 22, 1904, Colfax Messenger, Colfax, Wisconsin.]

The Ob, let us look:
Let our prospects allure
To visions that fade not,
To realms that endure;
To glories, to blessings
That triumph sublime
O'er the blightings of change
And the ruins of time.
