Obituary of Henry Golladay: He answered the final summons on Saturday morning at 11:10 o'clock when he succumbed to an illness of six days at the home of his son, Elmer Golladay.
In the death of Henry Golladay this community loses one of its best citizens whose industry and belief in the soil productivity of Mitchell county and never wavered and as a results he had lived a retired life for many years. He moved into Beloit City in 1918, and with his wife occupied their home on North Chestnut street until her death, May 27, 1935. For a time he continued to reside there but later decided to live with his son on the old home place. However, he visited in town every few days and we will remember him as we conversed with him only a few days ago when he was cheerful and in good health considering his age. Henry was a man who stood high in the esteem of all who knew him. Honorable and friendly in all of his dealings with his fellowmen, a kindly husband and an indulgent father, he had well fulfilled his mission on earth and departs leaving only kindly memories of his having passed this way.
Henry Golladay, son of Jacob and Rebecca Fullwider Golladay, was born October 8, 1856, at Crawfordville, Indiana, being at the time of his death aged 83 years, 6 months and 26 days. He was married on April 20, 1878, at Osceola, Iowa, to Mary J. Faulke, who predeceased him. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive, namely C. F., Elmer and Lloyd, all of this vicinity. He also leaves eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One sister, Belle Lewis, of Osceola, Iowa, and one brother, Charles Golladay of Glen Elder. Previous to coming to Mitchell county he had lived in Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska, but had lived here since 1892, carrying on farming operations in Turkey Creek township until his retirement. He was a member of the United Brethren church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Albert M. Jones, and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Pall bearers will be: J. F. Brady, George Odle, Joe Schellinger, J. L. Way, Myron Torrey and Frank Schellinger
