Janice Wight Nicholas, 89, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Friday June 3, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born August 11, 1921 in Harper, Utah. She was the third child of nine children born into the family of Ephraim and Lucille Lillywhite Wight. She grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Box Elder High School and went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from BYU. Her first teaching opportunity was in Grouse Creek, Utah followed by Tremonton, a one room school in Promontory, Payette Idaho and Honeyville, making up a total of 31 years of teaching. She was an exceptional teacher and had a great concern and love for all of her students. On April 5, 1944 she married Dwight Wayne Nicholas in the Logan LDS Temple. They were later divorced. Janice was a wonderful, dedicated mother who spent her entire life loving, serving and sacrificing for her family. She was an excellent homemaker and a perfectionist with her sewing, crocheting, knitting or any other task she undertook to do. She loved being with her family especially at Christmas and family reunions. She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings including a mission in the Little Rock Arkansas Mission and working in the Ogden LDS Temple. Janice is survived by her children; Kathryn (William) Hughes, Richard (Lori) Nicholas, Barbara (Hal) Hawkins, 21 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Muriel Nicholas, Beth Crook, Kathryn Allsop, Shirley Graham and one brother Ross Wight. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; Dwight Jess Nicholas, three grandchildren, two sisters; Marie Mathews and Lola Richards, one brother; Leland Wight.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing Thursday June 9, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Rudd Funeral Home 1234 South Main Garland, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday June 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Honeyville Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at the Calls Fort Cemetery Harper, Utah. The family wishes to thank PrimRose Home Health and Hospice for the hours of loving care.
