Clifford Albert Embree, son of Albert Hiram Embree and Mattie Stinemates, was born February 7, 1903 in Douglas Township, Montgomery County, Iowa. He passed away August 8, 1984 in Red Oak, Montgomery, Iowa at the age of eighty one years, six months, and one day.
Clifford had lived all his life on the farm where he was born. On August 5, 1926, he was united in marriage to Mary Sawyer in Red Oak. To this union three children were born.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and daughter, Beverly Walker, both of Grant; son Marvin and wife Evelyn of Elliott, and son Carol, and wife Mary Ellen of Littleton, Colorado, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Spring of Villisca, Mrs. Grace Corbin of Red Oak, and two brothers, Guy of Cumberland, and Leslie of Villisca, nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday, August 10, at the United Methodist Church, Grant, Iowa, with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Casket bearers were Stanley Peterman, Darwin Linn, Jack Taylor, Darrel Shafer, Ralph Marckmann, and Arnold Long. Lynn Adams, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Gourley, sang, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and “How Great Thou Art.” Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. William Weston, Mrs. Donald Shafer, and Mrs. Clair Morrison. At the Memory Book was Mrs. Galen Shafer. Ushers were Roy Taylor and Delbert Wilcoxon.
Interment was in the Grant Cemetery, Grant, Iowa.
Arrangements were by Sutphen Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa.
