H.D. was the son of Harmon Donald Blackmon Sr and Viola Duffie Blackmon. He was employed as a Courier with Wachovia Bank. He was a member of Smithville Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.
He married Lillie Mae Tharpe Blackmon on July 23, 1945.

Services were held Monday, May 24, 2008 at 3PM in the Sanctuary of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.
