Ezra Bradford was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on 20 Feb 1827. He graduated from the Ohio Wesleyan University at Delaware, Ohio, in 1854.

On 11 Nov 1856 he married Marcia Woodruff. Their first home was in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where they resided two years, and then returned to Ohio. Ezra and Marcia had seven children.

Near the close of the civil war, Ezra was sworn into the service of the United States as a volunteer soldier. He enlisted 8 Feb 1864 and was mustered in Co I 140th Ohio Infantry as a Private on 2 Aug 1864 at the age of 37. He was discharged on 3 Sept 1864 at Gallipolis, Ohio.

In 1869 the family came back from Ohio to Glenwood, first locating on a farm north of town and then in 1892 they built a home in the town of Glenwood.

Ezra was known in his community as a horticulturist and his advice in grape culture was frequently sought. He was a member of the Methodist church and held various offices. He was a Sunday school teacher for forty-five years. He helped build three buildings which were homes of the Methodist congregation. Ezra was active in the church his entire life.

Ezra died at his home in Glenwood in 1915 at the age of 87 years 11 months 11 days.
