Shelton Burns Hillman Sr., 82, of Bristol Tennessee, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Richmond, a son of the late James N. and Ethel Powell Hillman, and grew up on the campus of Emory & Henry College, where his father was president from 1922 to 1941. He received his B.A. degree from Emory & Henry College in 1941 and his M.B.A. degree from V.P.I. in 1942, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Hillman practiced as a C.P.A. in Bristol for over 40 years and was a member of State Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Anne McDonald of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a son, Shelton B. Hillman Jr. and his wife Gay of Bristol Tennessee; four grandchildren, Catherine Wagner of Los Angeles, Calif., Ben Wagner of Tucson, Ariz., Kate Hillman of Bristol and Seth Hillman of Anchorage, Alaska; and a great-granddaughter, Marley Hillman.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. David St. Clair officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private burial will follow in the Holston Conference Cemetery at Emory, Va. Memorial contributions may be sent to Emory & Henry College Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 947, Emory, VA 24327. Condolences and memories may be sent via e-mail to [email protected].
