Mrs. Mary Kingston – passed away suddenly, Sunday, the result of a shock – Mrs. Mary Kingston, an old and respected resident of the city, died at her home on Spring Street, shortly after 1 o'clock, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Kingston had not been feeling well for some days but was able to be up and around and the news of her demise came as a shock to her many friends. Sunday, Mrs. Kingston felt somewhat better than usual and partook of dinner with the rest of the family with apparent relish. Soon after 1 o'clock, she complained of feeling ill and, although medical assistance was quickly summoned, she expired shortly after. Death was due to a shock. Mrs. Kingston had lived in Ansonia since 1864, and was well and favorably known in the community. Her husband died 23 years ago, leaving her with nine children. For years she struggled along unaided until the children grew old enough to assist her and although other troubles came and five of the children passed away, Mrs. Kingston bore her afflictions like a true Christian and was always ready to share the griefs and burdens of others and in the neighborhood where she lived she was held in general affection. She nursed the sick and when misfortune of any kind came upon the neighbors, Mrs. Kingston was always the first to offer assistance. Mrs. Kingston was a member of the Church of the Assumption and was a faithful Catholic, and her life was an example of unselfish devotion to her religion and to those she loved. Mrs. Kingston is survived by four children, Jeremiah, Samuel, and the Misses Josephine and Julia Kingston. Undertaker Flahaven has charge of the funeral arrangements.
