4th of 5 children of Edward John & Rose Anna Zahn Steinberg, Ralph attended Illinois Weslyan U. at Bloomington, IL He worked in the steel mills at Gary, IN and then enlisted in the army when W. W. II began.

Ralph served in 638 Tank Destroyer Unit as ambulance driver and 108 General Hospital as orderly from Dec. 1941-Dec. 1945 even though he was too old to be drafted.

On July 19, 1945 in Llanduma, N. Wales he married Doris Roberts d/o David & Jennifer Jones Roberts of Glen Conway, N. Wales. Doris came to America in 1946 as a war bride. They had two daughters.

After the war, Ralph worked at U. S. Steel of Gary IN until retiring in 1983. He then worked as a beekeeper, helped with a blueberry farm and ran a Christmas Tree Farm in Porter Co. IN.

Ralph had been confirmed in the Evangelical Reformed church. He transferred to the United Methodist in 1954 and was very active from that point, especially with Methodist Men and in serving on the Stewardship Committee at Chesterton United Methodist.
