Skyler Hammond age, 16, of Eastman and Soldiers Grove, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien.

He was born on October 28, 1994 in Viroqua, the son of Corey and Kally (Olson ) Hammond.

He was a Sophomore at Seneca High School. He loved competing with his horses in gymkhanas and parades.

His favorite horse was Hammer. He also liked auto mechanics.

He enjoyed working with his Dad on the T-Bird. He also liked doing farm work with his Grandpa Rod.

He loved driving the trails with the Pink Cadillac and taking care of them with his Grandpa.

He enjoyed playing pool. Swimming in the Kickapoo River, having bonfires, going on trail rides, and canoeing with friends were also favorite pastimes.

He also like to tinker on his own cars and was going to go into small engine and auto mechanics in college.

He was a member of the FFA and really enjoyed his art.

He is survived by his parents: Corey and Kally Hammond of Eastman; his paternal grandparents: Ronald and Sandy Hammond of LaCrosse; his maternal grandparents: Roderick and Patricia Olson of Soldiers Grove; and his paternal great grandmother: Iva Lea Hammond;

Skyler is furthere survived by many more family and friends; his paternal aunt: Abby (Lane) Jacobson of McGregor, Iowa; his paternal uncles: Jon Hammond and Ron (Lisa) Hammond all of LaCrosse, and Frank (Sherry) Hammond of Viroqua; his maternal aunts: Pam (Dave) Lovett of Milwaukee and Gail (Dave) Nelson of Soldiers Grove;

Skyler is also survived by his cousins: Rachel (Josh) Connell and baby Ayvah, Justin Lovett, Nikki Nelson and baby Shalee, and Davi Lee Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Judy Hammond. His friend and class mate from grade school, Brandon Buffington, joined him later that same night at Heaven's Gates.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran church in Soldiers Grove, with Pastor Kent Johnson officiating.

Burial was held at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Soldiers Grove.

Friends called at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Friends also called at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M.
