BOWERS, ABBIE B., 96, of Cedarville, died Friday evening at her home. The wife of the late W. Roy Bowers, Sr., she was born in Cedarville and was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Elanora Earl Burt. She had lived at her present address for 25 years and has been a resident of Cedarville for most of her life.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Lawrence Township Historical Society, Millville Historical Society, Cumberland County Historical Society, the former Osborn Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a candidate for the "Society of the Decendents of the Colonial Clergy." During World War Two she worked as a instructor at the former Ferricute Machine Co. in Bridgeton. She was a Pen Pal, played the piano and raised African Violets.

Survivors include: two daughters, H. Shirlee Sassani, Bradenton, Fla., and Maxene B. "Micki" Ausburn, Cedarville; ten grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two sons, William R. Bowers, Jr. and Martin T. Bowers; two brothers and five sisters.

Rev. Evan Renne and Rev. Francis Champion will conduct funeral services at Cedarville United Methodist Church, Main St., Cedarville, on Friday afternoon at 1:00 O'clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A viewing will be held at her late residence on Thursday between 12:00 O'clock noon and 7:00 p.m. For those who desire, the family suggests contributions to either the Lawrence Township Historical Society, c/o Jean Gehring, 427 Main St., Cedarville, N.J. 08311 or Hospicecare of South Jersey, 2848 South Delsea Dr., Vineland, N.J. 08360. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Cedarville.

CONTRIBUTOR'S NOTE: Marriage Certificate has the maiden name of Abbie as Abbie Carman Burt. They were married on October 4, 1919 at 8:45 PM in Bridgeton, NJ by Rev. E.A. Miller, Jr. Mr and Mrs. Earle Burt were witnesses.
