Bates, Helen Jane (Reid) - 71, Truro, passed away September 8, 2010 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Middle Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Frances Reid. Helen was an avid gardener, loved fishing and was always very active outdoors. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Tammy (Peter) Smith, Truro, Christa (Dwayne) Watson, Frankford, Ont.; sons, Laurie and Larry (Cindy), both of Truro, Matthew, Hilden, Trent (Debbie), Valley; sisters, Ilene Bezanson, Dean, Thelma Strong, Truro, Margaret Higgins, Musquodoboit, Violet Bezanson, Annapolis Valley, Annie Hughes, Truro, Pearl Brown, USA; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; son, Daniel; brother, Roland. Helen was an organ donor. Cremation has taken place. No visitation or service by her request.
