GARLAND - Verla Beth Holman Abel, 75, passed away peacefully at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City on June 4, 1996. She was born March 3, l92l in Bear River City, to Robert Ross and Mary Rebecca Brown Holman. She married James Garnet Abel on February 14, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on January 3, 1946. She was reared and educated in Bear River City. She gave birth to eleven children. She raised her family in Elwood and Tremonton and resided in Garland at the time of her death. She was active in the LDS Church, having served in many positions and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Surviving are her children and their spouses: Ron and Linda Miller, Ely, NV; Bob and Nancy Miller, Silver City, NM; .Tames G. (Jim)and Carolyn Abel Jr., Tremonton; Kathy and Julian Negugogor, Bountiful; Alan K. Abel, Denver, CO; Mary and Robert Harris, Loveland, CO; Michael and Elaine Abel, Ogden; Reese and Gwen Abel, Pleasant Grove; Dan and Peg Abel, American Fork; Carol Abel, Garland; 33 grandchildren and 3l great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother and three sisters, Wanda Simmons, Layton; Nell Kidman, Roy; Courtley Holman and Colleen Hunsaker, both of Honeyville.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son Don Carlos.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, 1996 in the Tremonton South Stake Center with Bishop Clark Nielsen officiating.

Interment in the Bear River City Cemetery under the direction of Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home.
