Lester S. Ackerman, 80, of Richlandtown died May 1, 2003 in the Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. He was the husband of Estella M. (Gross) Ackerman. They were married 56 years last June. Born in Richlandtown, he was the son of the late Warren E. and Mary E. (Sames) Ackerman. In 1984 he retired from W. R. Grace Co., Quakertown, where he worked as a machine operator. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richlandtown, where he was active in the World Hunger Program. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Quakertown American Legion Post 242. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David L. at home; two daughters, Ruth A. of Richlandtown and Mary A. Gillen of Richlandtown; two brothers, Harold of Quakertown and Ray of Macungie. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul, and a sister, Elizabeth, Bartholomew. Services were held May 6. Memorial contributions can be made to VNA of Pottstown Hospice, 1963 E.
