Age 73, died Thursday, June 12, 1986 at a local hospital. He retired from the Hanel Vance Construction Company in 1974. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #580, the National Rifle Association, and the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. Surviving are the wife, Ruth A; 5 daughters, Mrs. Madeline Floyd of Dresden, TN, Mrs. Patricia Antekeier of Holt, Linda Gardenhouse of Morrice, Mrs. Pamela Friar of Dresden, TN, and Rebecca Parham of Jackson, TN; 1 stepson, Rev. Bill Van Patten of Winterset, IA; 4 stepdaughters, Mrs. Jackie Bliesener, Mrs. Nancy Hannahs, Mrs. Penny Baley, Mrs. Jody Morris, all of Lansing; 34 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 brother Lynn Smith of Lansing, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Van Patten officiating. Interment in East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home, 101 W. Jolly Rd.
