The following 1860 information is from Diane Wolfgang Ross:
In the 1860 census Benjamin is not living alone - his name is the last one on the page - his wife Caroline and four children; Eliza 7, George 5, Jane 2 and Margaret 1 are listed on the next page. In the 1870 census Alfred Bishop is listed in his home. He is Benjamin's nephew son of Albert Bishop (Benjamin's brother) who died in the Civil war in 1865. Alfred was 10 years old when his father died and by 1870 is living with his Uncle Benjamin and is 15 years old. I am a descendent of Albert & Alfred Bishop.

In the 1870 census his birth is listed as "abt" 1831 born in New York. He is living in Chest, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania with his wife and children:

The following is from Jim Terry - if anyone desires to contact him, contact me and I will give you his e-mail address

Benjamin was born in either Otsego or Delaware County, NY. You mentioned abt the 1900 census that says he was born in Delaware--I think it may refer to the county, not state. Albert lived in Delaware Cty in 1820 with his first wife. He married Martha in Cooperstown (Otsego) in 1824, and the family is found in Otsego Cty in 1830 . Albert died young--I don't have an exact year, but it would be between 1834 and 1840

I do not know when Albert's first wife died, nor the exact birthdate of Albert (abt 1825)--so son, Albert could have had a different birth mother than Benjamin.
