Audrey was preceded in death by parents, LAWRENCE and ALMA (Wendt) Widestrom and sisters LUCILLE (Robert) Miller; MARIE E. (Norman) Acker; BERNADINE E. Widestrom and brother-in-law, DONALD Hammen.
Audrey is survived by her brother, BILL (Karen) Widestrom of Eagle Grove, IA; sisters, LORNA Hammen of Woodbury, MN, EILEEN (Duane) Junkman of Manson, IA and JO ANNE Widestrom of Windsor Heights and 13 nieces and nephews.
Audrey Helen Widestrom was born on March 31, 1930 at Manson, IA. She graduated from Manson High School in 1948 and began working for Farmers Cooperative Company and resided with her parents. During this time she was organist of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
In 1954 Audrey moved to Des Moines and became employed by Iowa Des Moines National Bank until 1974 when she became employed by Midland Financial of Des Moines, retiring 1993.
Her high school music teacher, the late Lucille Nelson, told the story of Audrey's exceptional musicial gift for the organ and piano. The manson school was hosting the small group and solo music contest. The night before, Miss Nelson discovered she had come down with the mumps! Audrey replaced her and played the piano accompanying 18 entries without the benefit of practice! David O'Leary (who was also a neighber boy) drove her from church to church and from school to school.
Audrey had many other interests such as reading, sewing and cooking. Her generosity will be missed by her family and friends.
