--Noted Amateur Golfer, E J Rogers Dies--
Emmett J Rogers, 5323 N Villa, died Tuesday at St Anthony Hospital after a long illness. Services are pending at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.

A native of Pawkuska, Rogers came to OKC in 1922. He was the owner of E J Rogers Insurance Co for 40 years. During the 1910s and 1950s, Rogers was a avid golfer and won the Oklahoma State Amateur Golf Championship twice. He was a winner of the State Open championship and claimed the Broadmoor Invitational title at Denver three times. He was life director of Trans Mississippi Golf Association and an associate of the US Golf Association.

Rogers was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy, Missouri and the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of Christ the King Church.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene; three sisters, Cecilia Barrett of Kansas City MO, Flora Rogers and M J Haskell Agnew, both of OKC and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Fund.
