Dad was born to Levie (Find A Grave Memorial# 117342794) & Rosetta (White) Jackson. In 1939, he moved to Wichita Falls, Tx., met & married Willie Betty Wilburn. To their union was born five children (Juanita Peggy Joyce, Hernandez Rodgers, Gail Jeanette, Jacqueline Marie, Karen LaFon & Mark Anthony). He attended public school in Emory & completed a year of studies at Jarvis Christian College. In his lifetime, Dad was a master of many endeavors all geared towards supporting & meeting the needs of his beloved family. In the early years he was a waiter & bartender. Then he worked in The Bremerton Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (Seattle, Wa.) during WWII. Later he joined the U.S. Merchant Marines. Afterwards, he returned to Wichita Falls & worked as an elevator dispatcher & pharmacist assistant. He also was a self-taught portrait & commercial photographer & worked for a while as a concrete finisher in Dallas. In his declining years Dad became an avid organic gardener to the delight of family & friends who received the bulk of his yearly harvest. A constant source of wisdom, he was always willing to help anyone he could.
