Jacob Rank, the aged brother of Frank Rank of our city, died last Wednesday at the age of 69 years, after a prolonged and painful illness.
Decedent was born in Germany and came to America with his parents in 1855, the family settling in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County where they lived for many years. After his marriage, Mr. Rank came to live on the present homestead, in 1876.
He is survived by a wife, six sons and five daughters. The surviving children are Jacob and George of Hilbert, Frank of Medford, Joseph of Sheboygan, Peter of Omro, and Louis, at home. The daughters are Mrs. Anna French of Antigo, Mrs. Maggie Pflueger of our city, Mary and Clara at home, and Rose in a convent at Fond du Lac. One child is dead.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary's church tomorrow forenoon. The body will we accompanied by the local branch of Catholic Knights, of which the deceased was an esteemed member.
Jacob Rank was a kindly, upright man, of quiet, simple manners, loved for his many good qualities and honored for the thrift and industry which made him a valuable factor in the progress of the community in which he lived
