Funeral services for Mrs. Melvie W. Buxton will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 in the Church Of A Higher Calling, Oakdale with Reverends Mike Willis and Tony Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mrs. Buxton, 74, of Oakdale entered eternal rest on Friday, July 27, 2007 in Oakdale Community Hospital.

Melvie was a member of the Church Of A Higher Calling and a lifelong resident of Oakdale. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death two sons, Carl Buxton and Roger Dale Buxton; one daughter, Bridgette Buxton; one grandson, Fred Perkins; her mother and father, Stafford and Tennie Willis; two brothers, Clyde Willis and Jimmy Wade Willis and one sister, Margie Vinson.

Survivors include her loving husband of forty-eight years, Dew Buxton of Oakdale; one son, Jerry Buxton of Immokalee, Florida; two daughters, Geraldine Perkins and July Rollins both of Oakdale; two brothers, Crawford Willis of Oakdale and Leamul Willis of Lake Charles; five sisters, Dorothy Willis of Plainview, Shirley Mae Pickering of the Bethel Community, Laverne Hargrove of Oakdale, Ella Mae Inman of Silsbee, Texas and Glenell Durant of Oakdale; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
