Thomas Grange was a native of Wisbech St Mary, Cambridgeshire, England. It was there that he married Rose Dilley, daughter of George and Mary Dilley, in 1837. Thomas immigrated to the United States by 1857 and settled in Orland, Cook, Illinois. (His wife and children arrived in New York aboard the Plutarch on 16 Nov 1857.) Thomas was widowed in 1891. The following year, on 30 Sep 1892, he was naturalized. Thomas died at the age of 83 and was interred in Orland Memorial Park Cemetery.
