James D. Cash was born to Mr. & Mrs. B.C. Cash, Sr. He attended J.P. Starks Elementary School in 1927. Later, he married his high school sweetheart, MERITA JACKSON, on December 23, 1929. to their union one son, Edwin Bernard Cash, was born.
He entered the U.S. Postal Service in September 1937 and retired November 1969. He was the first to be named to the position of Group Leader in the Dallas Post Office .
At an early age he united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, which is now the Good Street Baptist Church. He was a faithful member until his health failed him.
He was also known in the Prince Hall Masonic family. He was a member of Paul Drayton Lodge #9, Dale Consistory #31, Zakat Temple #164, M.L. Ray Court #90 - Heroines of Jericho and held the Grand Lodge Office of Deputy Grand Joshua, Heroines of Jericho.
He leaves to mourn is passing: a devoted wife of fifty-one years, MERITA JACKSON-CASH; son, Edwin; his parents Mr. & Mrs. B.C. Cash, Sr.; grandaughter, Sherrie Lynn Cash; and a host of other relatives and friends.
