Elizabeth Walsh Murphy

Elizabeth Walsh, daughter of John and Sarah Walsh, was born in Cork County, Ireland, Oct. 13, 1845, and passed away at the age of 100 years, 4 months and 11 days.
She came to this country when sixteen years of age, also a brother. Later her parents and brothers came and in 1869 they made their home in Menard county, Illinois. They also lived a short time in Douglas County where her father and two brothers passed away in the year 1876.
She was united in marriage with John Murphy. Six children were born to this union: Edward, Sadie, Mable, Effie, May and John. Mable and May preceded her in death.
In the year of 1893 the family moved to Clarke county and that was her home the remainder of her life.
Up to the time of old age her's was a busy life, quite often speaking to her family about the better things of life such as truth, honesty and keeping busy at some task. She was a loving mother and was always carrying more than her share of the heavy cares of life, and it can truly be said that she received many blessings in her journey through life. She united with the church about 25 years ago.
Those left to mourn their loss are her children, Mrs. A.S. Deitrick of St. Peter, Minn., Edward, Effie and John at home; two grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral was held in the Kale funeral home in Truro, Iowa, on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. Cooper, and interment in the Fremont cemetery beside her husband who passed away in 1913.
