Marion Cook Taylor 1913~2003 "Matriarch"

Marion Cook Taylor, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, surrounded by her family, bid them farewell and rejoined her eternal mate Clarence on May 6, 2003.

Marion was born in Bountiful, Utah on October 18, 1913 to Albert Quinton Cook and Josina Debry. she had four sisters and two brothers. She married her sweetheart Clarence George Taylor, Sr. in Bountiful, Utah, January 3, 1929. Their marriage was later solemnized August 30, 1957 in the Salt Lake temple. Clarence preceded her death January 14, 1981.

Marion exemplified the work ethic of her LDS heritage, selflessly working most of her life, yet competently and lovingly raising four children. she finally retired at age 70 from the Church Distribution Center after 29 years of service.

Marion's life was centered around her family and her faith. She knew the names of all the little ones in the family and never missed a birthday. She was staunch in her beliefs, taught her children by word and example to be good people. She served in many church positions, lastly as Ward Librarian in the Garden Heights Ward for 22 years. She was a great seamstress, cook and homemaker and took pride in maintaining a clean and attractive home and garden. Many family gatherings were held in her home, and everyone especially loved her banana cream pies.

She is survived by three sons, one daughter, two sisters, 19 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Marion and the family appreciated the sweet and loving care from Apple Tree Assisted Living in Kaysville, UT.

Well done Mother. Thanks for being such an influential person and force for good in all our lives.

Loved ones, friends and associates are invited to join with the family in honoring this fine woman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden Heights North Ward, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South). Friends may call Friday evening May 9, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and on Saturday at the church for one hour prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Holbrook Mortuary.
