OBITUARY OF M. OTT

Matthew Ott was born in Byron, Germany, March 20, 1826, and died at his home in Glasco, April 2nd, 1911. On September 5, 1855, he was united in marriage to Juliana Keller, at Newark, N.J. To this union were born fifteen children, fourteen of them still living and grown to man and womanhood. Soon after his marriage he moved to Illinois, then to Iowa, and to Missouri, coming to Kansas and settling near Glasco in 1875.

Mr. Ott belonged to that class of young men that have come to our shores well equipped with habits of industry and economy, that has been such a great factor in the building up of our material, social and religious institutions. Honest, quiet, and industrious, implanting in the lives of his children the same principles of manhood, he lies down in death at the ripe old age of 85 years, having been a blessing to his family and the community. He leaves an aged wife, fourteen children, thirty-seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and an entire community to mourn his departure.

His funeral took place from his residence, conducted by G.S. Smith, and his remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Glasco cemetery, there to await a resurrection morn.
