He joined the Navy and served in WWll on ship. Once before, he had met his wife, Helen Martin. After a number of years gone by, they had met again and before long, they were married, bought some land and settled in Merit, Mississippi. Before retiring he was owner and proprietor of Merit Grocery Store. They were members of the Mendenhall United Methodist Church.
They had one son, John M. May
He was a good, devoted family man, husband, father and a dear friend to a lot of people in Simpson County and will be missed very much.
