U.S. Congressman. He was Sheriff of Montgomery County and keeper of Johnstown Jail, (1806-12). Moving to the village of Ephratah, New York, he became successful in the mercantile business and was in local politics. In 1837, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. After his term, he settled in Johnstown, New York and engaged in manufacturing pursuits until his death at age 69.
