J.C. ``Doc'' Barnhill, 80, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Horry County, a son of the late Dan and Maude Collins Barnhill.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was well-known for his family's Christmas light display on U.S. 76 near the Little Pee Dee River in Mullins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Leroy ('Penny'), Beamon and Vernon Barnhill.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Buffkin Barnhill; three sons, Jack Barnhill and his wife, Tessie, of Mullins, Jerry Barnhill and his wife, Gertie, of Marion, and Joe Barnhill and his wife, Anita, of Mullins; three brothers, D.C. Barnhill of Mullins, Kermit Barnhill of Fairmont, N.C., and James Barnhill of Garner, N.C.; two sisters, Earline Drew of Duford and Bernice Prince of Fair Bluff, N.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
