Ezekiel Maxwell Linthicum (b. Oct 21, 1824, NC) and Elizabeth James (b. Sep 25, 1825, NC) were married Sep 4, 1848 in Guilford County, NC and migrated to Indiana sometime between 1850 - 1860 as they are listed on the 1860 census living in Indian Creek Township, Monroe County, IN working as a farm hand with his uncle Thomas Linthicum. They moved, per the 1870 and 1880 census, to Perry, Lawrence County, IN and then again back to Indian Creek Township as noted on the 1900 census. He was a farmer and probably doing well financially as he also ran the Billy Carter Grist Mill until his death February 20, 1907. The mill, sometime in the 1920‘s, finally succumbed to the times.

John J. Snow also worked the mill with Ezekiel. Elizabeth Linthicum died February 23, 1907. I do not know what the cause of death was for them, probably old age and hard work. It seems odd, although it happened quite often, that Elizabeth died three days after Ezekiel.
