Sanitarium in San Antonio, Texas from chronic myocarditis; age 53 years 5 months 27 days; husband of Betty Bentley; occupation - miner; married; religion - Presbyterian; body shipped from San Antonio, Zizik-Kearns Undertaking Company; funeral held on June 8, 1929 at the Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m., Dr. Richardson officiating; buried in the Municipal Cemetery in South Lead; undertaker - G.A. Rounsevell.

Lead Daily Call newspaper, June 3, 1929 - "WILLIAM BENTLEY DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS.
Word has been received here from Mrs. William Bentley of the death of her husband, a resident of Lead for many years, at the Woodmen of the World sanitarium in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Bentley will bring the body here for burial, and will arrive home on Thursday.
Mr. Bentley's death followed a prolonged illness. He went to the sanitarium about a year and a half ago in an effort to regain his health, but sanitarium authorities summoned Mrs. Bentley to her husband's bedside last week when it became known that he could not survive.
Arrangements for the funeral services will be announced later."

Lead Daily Call, June 05, 1929 - "Mrs. William Bentley is expected to arrive on the Burlington tomorrow afternoon from San Antonio, Texas, accompanying the body of her husband whose death came in a sanitarium there after a long illness. Funeral services and interment will be held here, the date to be announced after Mrs. Bentley arrives. Mrs. Bentley's daughter, Mrs. A.C. Wilson, of Denver, is expected to arrive here tomorrow by automobile from her home in Denver, Colorado."

Lead Daily Call, June 6, 1929 - "FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WM. BENTLEY SATURDAY.
The body of the late William Bentley, whose death came at the W.O.W. sanitarium in San Antonio where he had been ill for a year and a half, arrived here today, accompanied by Mrs. Bentley, who was summoned to San Antonio about ten days ago by her husband's critical condition.
The funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Presbyterian church, it was announced this afternoon. The pallbearers will be E.S. Stanley, Fred Chase, William Bradley, Dwight Casner, N.R. Treweek and Will Weisenberg. The services will be conducted by Dr. G.H. Richardson, rector of Christ church.
Mr. Bentley is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. A.C. Wilson, who was expected to arrive from her home in Denver by automobile today, a son, Roy, of Cannanea, Mexico, who will be unable to come here at this time, his father, living in Stevens Point, Wis., and a brother and two sisters living in Wausau, Wis., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jesse Leveaux, of Lead, who makes her home at the Bentley residence.
Mrs. Bentley was met at the train this afternoon by a delegation from the Woodmen of the World, of which order Mr. Bentley was a member. The Woodmen will attend the services on Saturday afternoon in a body."
