Sister Alma Bryant Neal, a retired East Baton Rouge Parish school bus driver for 28 years, was called home at 1:09 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011. She died at her home at the young age of 68.

Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home until religious service, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Bessix. Interment will be in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Sister Alma B. Neal was born July 28, 1942, to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Walter Bryant. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Henry Barrow of New Canaan Baptist Church.

Sister Alma B. Neal leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Debra L. Veal and Erica Veal Jackson; two grandsons, Montrell J. Veal and Johntrell J. Veal; sister, Mary Bryant; four brothers, Ernest (Shirley), John, Anderson Sr. (Deidre), and Gary Bryant; two godchildren, Marvin Bryant and Carla C. Powell; three brothers-in-law, Curry Bradley, the Rev. Albert (Aslee) and Wilbert Neal Sr.; sister-in-law, Rowena (Richard) Booze; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and co-workers.

Preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Neal Jr.; parents; four sisters, Rosemary, Lorraine and Ethel Bryant, and Dorothy Bradley; two brothers, Wilbert and Lawrence Bryant; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney Sr. and Sylvia Neal; brother-in-law, Joseph Neal; and sister-in-law, Williemena Harris.

Sister Alma B. Neal is resting in peace, but her Christmas decorations will be carried on in her memory. She was a 1961 graduate of McKinley Senior High School.
