------------------------

Frank Baumgartner arrived in U.S. June 26, 1886 at the port of New York aboard the ship "Werra". He had come three years in advance of his parents and siblings, and he settled near Fingal, ND, in Springvale Twp. of Barnes County, very near the Schloegel family that was also on board the same ship. In 1889 his parents and siblings joined him.

They were close neighbors to the John Gruber family, whose daughter, Theresia he would marry in 1900. That year, Frank and Theresia moved to their farm in Kirkelie Twp, Ward Co, ND, where their five children would be born over the next seven years.

In a sad and tragic accident, Frank died in 1908, leaving his wife and their very young family.

------------------------
From The Evening Times, Grand Forks, ND, Nov.23, 1908:
Minot, N.D., Nov.23 -- Word was received in Minot last night of the death of Frank Baumgartner, a prominent Foxholm farmer, from injuries received in a runaway.

Baumgartner drove home to his farm and started to unhitch. He unaccountably neglected to unfasten one of the tugs and when he started to lead the horses into the barn they became frightened and reared, throwing him to the ground and striking him with their hoofs. They then started to run and pulled the heavy farm wagon over his stomach causing internal injuries.

Baumgartner managed to get into the house and telephoned to a neighbor that his leg had been broken and to send a doctor. The doctor arrived and set the leg but a few hours after he became unconscious and when a Minot physician reached there last night was very low. Every possible care was exercised but he died late last night.

Baumgartner is well known in the county, having lived near Foxholm for some years. He is about 40 years of age and leaves a wife and five children. He was a member of St. Leo's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters and they will have charge of his funeral which will take place from St. Mary's church at Foxholm.

The deceased carried $2,000 of paid up insurance in the lodge and is the owner of some real estate.
