This Memorial is for Mrs. T. M. Gray, given name: Georgina "Jenny" Houd, B 08 Nov 1856 in Attica, Lapeer, Michigan, D 13 Jun 1928, 9 miles South East of Tie Siding, Albany County, Wyoming. Jenny was age 72 when she died. Her husband was Thaddeus Mortimer Gray, died 1931 in Clayton, Norton County, Kansas, & buried beside her at Virginia Dale Cemetery.

Jenny was the daughter of John Henry Houd & Mary Ann Cussick Houd. In the 1880 Census Jenny was living with her family in Liberty, Jefferson County, Iowa, where she married Thad Gray 08 Nov 1882 in her parents' home. Their children were born in Fairfield IA, Charlie Houd in 1884, Estella Melinda, called Stella, in 1885, Ralph Risk in 1888, Nettie May in 1889, Glenn Wood in 1890, Izma Marguerite in 1892, Emma Pearl in 1894 & Thadeus Mortimore in 1895. By 1900 the family was living in KC, Wyandotte County, KS. By 1905 they were living in Beloit, Mitchell County, KS. The family includes T.M, 45, Jenny, 48, Nettie May, 14, Marguerite, 12, & Emma Pearl, 11. The 1907 Beloit City Directory lists them on N Beloit St. By 1909 Jenny's mother Mrs Mary Houd has joined the family. She dies in the Gray home on N Campbell 20 Sep 1909 after an extended illness. Her funeral service was held in the Gray home. The 1910 Federal Census puts the Grays in Norton County KS, where Thad & Jenny are living in 1920 with their 30 yr old daughter Mary. The couple later homesteaded in Colorado, 9 miles SE of Tie Siding WY, where she died at age 71, at 5:30 Wed evening, 13 Jun 1928. The funeral was held at Virginia Dale the following Friday with the Rev Walter L. French of the Methodist Church presiding. Her grave is marked with a thin piece of native limestone, etched only with Mrs T M Gray. One imagines that Thad or a friend created the marker.

Early pioneers who are buried here also worshiped at the Virginia Dale Community Church, next to the Virginia Dale Community Church Cemetery, which is still conducting worship services and wedding ceremonies today. They lived on homesteads, ranches, and/or farms in this part of northwestern Colorado, a widespread area located only a few miles from the Wyoming border. Tie Siding is the first town after crossing the Colorado/Wyoming border.
