His sister Sarah Gibson married Thomas Kennedy, the Revolutionary War veteran who settled in Warren County, MO in 1807 and was an exceptional leader and who is buried in the Kennedy graveyard in Warren County, MO. James Gibson was a ranger in Captain Callaway's company during the War of 1812, along with his brother John Gibson and Guyon Gibson, Jr.
