Masonic graveside rites were held for Harvey Mosty, 73, who died Saturday evening after a brief illness. The services were held in the chapel of the Smith Funeral Home with Rev. B.E. Brenham and Rev. Sidney Rees officiating. Mr. Mosty had been ill for about 10 days, suffering from a heart ailment, and had been a patient in the Peterson Memorial hospital.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, he had lived in Kerr County for 30 years. He was the son of Lee A Mosty and Elizabeth Bean Mosty. Mr. Mosty served on the Board of Education and was one of the developers of the Garden of Memories. He and his brother were widely known as the first nurserymen to propagate the soft-shell pecans on native stock, making sturdy and fruitful trees. He was a member of the Masonic organization and of the Baptist Church.
His survivors are his widow of the home address, three children, Mrs. McKnight, Mrs. June Cass, and Mrs. W.D. Craft, all of Kerrville; one sister, Mrs. Street Hamilton; four brothers, Lee Mosty of Center Point, Mark, Karl, and E. Mosty, all of Kerrville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
