Vernon Jerry Dehart, 60 of Perry Township, Parker, died at 11:59 p.m.
Friday, June 16, 2006, at Clarion Hospital following an extended
illness.

Born Aug. 12 1945, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son
of the late Harry Elijah and Lula Belle Bartley Dehart.

Mr. Dehart was a 1963 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley School
district, then at Emlenton, and later graduated from New Castle
Business College with a degree in accounting and airline services.

He served with the 4th Armored Division of the 7th U.S. Army in
Germany during the Vietnam service era. Following active duty, he
served in the U.S. Army a number of years being honorably discharged
with the rank Staff Sergeant.

Mr. Dehart served as an accountant for the Housing Authority of Oil
City from 1970 to 1975. He later was employed by C & K Coal Co. from
1975 through 1983 as a dozer operator. He then worked for Pennsylvania Refining Co., now Penreco, at Karns City until leaving in April 2005 due to ill health.

He was a member of Pace International Union #0889. He was also a
member of Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge #521 of Parker, the
Valley of Oil City and the New Castle Consistory as well as the
Consistory Legion of Honor. He was a member of the Zem-Zem Shrine of
Erie, the Clarion County Shrine Club, American Legion Post 598 of
Parker and a social member of VFW Post 7073 at Parker.

Mr. Dehart was Protestant by faith.

He was a well-known hunter and fisherman, as well as a skilled
gardener at his home.

Mr. Dehart was married June 6, 1970 to Patty Diane Callender Dehart,
at Sigel United Methodist Church. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Jamison Dehart and his wife Julie
of West Freedom and Jacob "Jake" Patrick at home; two beloved
grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Dehart of West Freedom; a brother,
Thomas L. Dehart and his wife Jane of Emlenton; two sisters-in-law,
Charlene Dehart of Sligo and Shirley Dehart of West Freedom; and a
number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Richard "Dick" and David "Jim" Dehart.

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the H. Jack
Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne St., Parker.

Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American
Cancer Society or Perry Township Ambulance Service, Parker 16049.
